Stephany Ficut Photography is an internationally certified maternity and newborn photographer specializing in working with expecting mothers and newborn babies.
Safety is always our first priority when working with your most precious tiny little angel.
In this article we will answer some of the questions we typically get from parents when discussing their newborn session to come.
When is the best time to do a newborn session ? – The ideal time to photograph your baby is between the first 6-12 days of birth. During those first 2 weeks, your baby will sleep most of the day and it will be much easier to pose them into all the cute little props. After the 2 week mark, your baby tends to be more aware of their surroundings and more sensitive to touch and noise.
How long do sessions last ? – Newborn sessions usually take about 3 hours. Some newborn sessions can be done very quickly and baby sleeps through it all, others may take a bit more time and baby needs a few feeding/soothing breaks. Both types of sessions are just fine! Newborn photography can be a waiting game, we are on your baby’s schedule and that’s totally fine!
What should I expect during the session? – While we usually cover all these topics at the pre-session consultation, the only thing you should expect is a quiet, calm and cozy atmosphere. Babies can sense anxiety, especially from their mama so we want to make sure you’re as prepared as you can be. Me and my assistant will take your baby as soon as you arrive and we promise to handle your precious one with care!
What do I need to bring ? – We always tell our parents to bring baby and milk. That’s pretty much it. No need to worry about all the details. Our studio is equipped with a clean changing table, diapers, wipes, bibs, blankets and even pacifiers. We know that adjusting to this new schedule is not easy so we’re determined to make this a great experience for you!
Can parents/siblings be photographed as well? – Absolutely! We highly encourage this! Our clients have the option to add-on hair and makeup to their session and while mom is getting pampered, we create some beautiful and unique images of your little baby! If there’s any siblings, we encourage dad to stop by towards the end of the session, when mom is ready with hair and makeup (we know those little ones have so much energy, and patience is often hard to ask for). We typically finish off the session with the parent/sibling images.
What if I have more questions ? – We’d love to meet you and answer any questions you might have! All these topics are discussed thoroughly at the pre-session design consultation. Please contact our studio here.
